Starting off as a fencing and blacksmith company operating from a smallholding in Dechmont, West Lothian, Douglas and Alison Stewart soon relocated to larger premises at the Wimpey Yard in Uphall.
Mr. Stewart, along with his son-in-law Rab Elder, realised the need for a reliable supplier of gates, railings, posts, and other material and thus decided to split the fencing and blacksmith company, resulting in the formation of Loaninghill Fabrication Company Limited.
Land was purchased in 1990 at the East Mains Industrial Estate, Broxburn and a workshop was erected. The company currently operates from this site.
Loaninghill Fabrication Co Ltd is very much a family affair. Although Mr & Mrs. Stewart retired in the early 90s, both the fencing and manufacturing businesses are still run by their two sons-in-law, Rab Elder and Allan Turnbull. We currently supply products to several leading fencing contractors in Scotland.
Within the main office, Carol Turnbull & Sheila Elder who are the daughters of Mr & Mrs. Stewart, deal with all accounts, payments and general day-to-day running of the back office. All estimating work is carried out by Mr. David McGowan, who has worked in the fencing industry for 30 years.
